Gregg Goslin, was elected to the Cook County Board of Commissioners on November 3, 1998, pledging to work to "professionalize, modernize and privatize" County government. Prior to that, he has held elected public office for more than twenty-five years. He served in the 89th General Assembly as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, where he successfully sponsored legislation that strengthened local government, capped real estate taxes and reformed medical insurance coverage. Commissioner Goslin was elected Northfield Township Supervisor in 1985 and re-elected in 1989 and 1993. Before that, he successfully ran for township Collector in 1981 and subsequently served as a township Trustee. In 1994 he was elected Northfield Township Republican Committeeman, and re-elected in 1998 and 2002.

Commissioner Goslin's Cook County Board responsibilities include chairing the county's Tax and Revenue Committee; Revenue Enhancement Committee of the Cook County Forest Preserve District, which comprehensively reviewed the operations of the district and made recommendations for aggressive change, now being implemented. He currently chairs the Chicago Botanic Garden Committee, a premier facility recognized worldwide for its research and programs. He also serves as Vice Chair of both the Forest Preserve District and the County Audit Committees, the Education Committee and the Real Estate Committee of the Forest Preserve District. Since taking office as Commissioner, he has worked to control real estate taxes by increasing the efficiency of county government; sponsored and supported measures which promote professionalism throughout county government; protected forest preserves by opposing the sale of non-surplus FPD land, and promoted management based on science and consultation with professional conservationists and botanists. By supporting and encouraging the establishment of a primary care clinic in Palatine Township, and in other locations throughout the County, Commissioner Goslin has established his commitment to making Cook County government more compassionate by bringing services to citizens in their own communities.

Nationally, Commissioner Goslin serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of County (NACo). NACo leadership selected him to chair the Large Urban County Caucus (LUCC), a bipartisan organization consisting of the 100 largest counties in America that works to protect the interests of counties across the country. LUCC is active in promoting county programs on national issues of concern to the United States Congress and Executive Branch and its members represent 50% of the national population. Also at NACo, Commissioner Goslin represents Cook County on the Medicaid/Medicare Reform Task Force, the Health Committee and the Homeland Security Task Force.

Active in his local community, Commissioner Goslin is the past Chairman of the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, served as its Treasurer, and created and chaired the Education and Tourism Councils. He is a member of the Independence Day Celebration Commission, the Board of Thomas Place Senior Housing, a member of the Glenview Leadership Council and is a former officer and member of the Executive Board of the Northwest Municipal Conference, a regional association of over sixty municipalities and townships. He served as a voting member of the Glenview Naval Air Station Reuse Task Force, now a model for other cities facing base closures. He is a member of the Optimist Club, a member of Helping Hands and has been active with the Rotary Club of Glenview-Sunrise, Project Compass of the United Way, the Navy League and was a founding member of the Glenview Values Project.

A recognized leader, Commissioner Goslin has received numerous awards, including Ambassador of the Little City Foundation, 2008, Outstanding Business Partner by the Northwest Suburban Education to Careers Partnership, 2002. T he Community Spirit Award presented by the Northfield Township, selected Outstanding Community Leader by Work Force Development Board, and received the Illinois Reaches out Award, presented by Illinois First Lady Brenda Edgar in 1997. The Glenview Chamber selected Commissioner Goslin in 1997 as Business Person of the Year and again his business was awarded Business of the Year in 2005.

Commissioner Goslin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Secondary Education from Southern Illinois University in 1975 and completed postgraduate study in real estate. A real estate professional, Commissioner Goslin is President of Glenview-based Cabot Properties, Ltd and a general partner with the Abington of Glenview. He is a licensed real estate broker and a certified secondary education teacher in the state of Illinois. Commissioner Goslin and his wife Victoria, a special education teacher, reside in the village of Glenview with their children Kate, Maggie, and Alexander.
