Prescription Discount

Through a partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo), Cook County offers residents the opportunity to save an average of 20% on many prescription purchases with its Free Prescription Discount Card.

NACo’s latest report indicates that participants in Cook County have saved just over $950,000 on almost 90,000 prescriptions since the program began, with an average cost savings of $10.67 per prescription filled.

The program is free to all Cook County residents. There are no income or age requirements—all county residents are eligible to use the card any time a prescription is not covered by insurance, with no restrictions and no limits on how many times the card is used.

It’s easy to use!  Simply present your card at a participating retail pharmacy and save an average of 20% on your prescription medicine.  There is no enrollment form or membership fee, and you can use your card immediately.

Most major pharmacies, including CVS, Walgreens and Jewel-Osco, accept the Cook County Prescription Discount Card.  You can find a complete list of the 57,000 participating retail pharmacies, as well as price estimates for your prescriptions at the Caremark-NACo website.
